Physiotherapy Services

We are a full-service Physiotherapy clinic serving people of all ages and abilities in the Oceanside community. We will listen to your story, help you figure out what is holding you back, provide evidence-based treatment to help you progress, and then make a plan for you to stay on track long-term. We want to help you fully recover from whiplash, ankle sprains, and everything in between. We can help you learn to manage chronic health conditions and improve your quality of life. We won’t tell you to give up on doing the things you enjoy, we’ll find a way for you to keep doing them.

In addition to the basics of manual therapy, education, and exercise prescription, we have specific training and expertise in the following areas:

Intramuscular Stimulation

Leif and Lindsay are both certified practitioners of Gunn IMS, which is an evidence-based treatment for musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain. Following a detailed assessment of the biomechanics, muscles, joints, and nerves in an affected area, we use acupuncture needles to precisely target and release tight bands of muscle. It is a very effective treatment, especially when used along with other treatments such as education, exercise, and manual therapy.

Contact us or visit www.gunnims.com for more information.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Lindsay has 12 years of experience and extensive post-graduate training in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, which is a first-line treatment for incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis rectus abdominus, and pelvic pain. These conditions often happen after having a baby, but can happen at any age and often worsen around the time of menopause. While pelvic floor dysfunction is more common in women, it can also occur in men. Lindsay is qualified to assess and treat post-prostatectomy incontinence and all types of pelvic pain in men.

Through a detailed history and assessment, Lindsay can identify the cause of your problem and work with you to develop an exercise plan and lifestyle changes to help manage your symptoms. People with pelvic floor dysfunction are often told to avoid all high impact activities, but through specific training and modifications, you can often do more than you think.

Golf Screening (TPI)

Leif is certified through the Titleist Performance Institute.  This training allows him to evaluate a player’s physical capabilities and help identify key strength or mobility deficiencies that may be holding a player back from playing to their potential.

Pregnancy and Post-Partum

Using current evidence-based guidelines and your own preferences, Lindsay can safely prescribe and monitor exercise during and after pregnancy. She can also help you to modify your exercise program in the presence of pelvic floor dysfunction and diastasis rectus abdominus. She has a special interest in helping women return to running and weight lifting in the presence of incontinence, prolapse, and diastasis.

Custom Program for Any Activity

We have also developed specific strength training programs for many other sports, from pickle ball to mountain biking. Please contact us to discuss developing a program specific to any sport. We will work hard to help you find a way to continue doing what you love to do, regardless of what life throws your way.
